GC-1: "MOHICAN" GENERAL COVERAGE RECEIVER KIT (GC-1)

First all transistor communications-type receiver in kit form.

An outstanding new development in a communications type receiver, the Heathkit
"Mohican" offers many firsts in receiver design as well as complete portability 
through its all-transistor circuit and use of 8 long-life standard flashlight cells 
for power supply. One of the most outstanding features of this amazing receiver is
the use of transfilters previously available only in military equipment.  The 
fixed-aligned transfilters offer superior selectivity and ruggedness.  Other features
include a built-in, telescoping, 54' whip antenna, flywheel tuning, tuning meter, and
large easy-to-read, slide-rule, edge-lighted dial.

Electrical bandspread is provided on five separately calibrated ham bands and the 11
meter citizens band.  The beat frequency oscillator (BFO) is uniquely tuned through the 
variable capacity effect of a diode and is adjustable by means of a front panel
potentiometer. Controls consist of main tuning, on-off volume BFO, bandswitch, RF gain
control, antenna tuning: electrical bandspread tuning, ANL on-off, and AVC on-off. A 
switch is also provided on the rear apron for high or low impedance antenna inputs.

The attractive styling of the "Mohican" is in gray and gray-grcen with the dial tilted
back for easy reading. The rugged steel case has provision for attaching carrying hhandle
on top or at one of the sides. An ideal receiver for portable applications (such as on 
field trips, etc.), and excellent as a standby receiver for use in an emergency in the 
event of power failure or for fixed station use, the CC-1 quickly converts from its 
battery power to 1 1 OV. AC bv means of the accessory XP-2 Power Supply described below. 

The Model GC-1 with its many special design features promises to be one of the most 
outstanding receiver developments of the year and an excellent investment in
